Thanking Our City's
Dream Makers

Who has inspired you to pursue your dreams?

With a donation to our Dream Makers campaign, you can honor them by adding their name to a special wall at the newly-renovated Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library.

Your donation will help support lifelong learning for everyone in our community.

Our city’s MLK Library, built in 1972, was the first memorial in the United States to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a fitting tribute to a man whose powerful voice shared a dream for our nation.

Dr. King believed that education, learning and dreaming are all connected.

50 years later, the MLK Library is truly a place that inspires dreamers and emboldens dreams.

Our city is a proud place where citizens from all walks of life do great things every day.

As engaged members of families, schools, churches and workplaces in our community, we support those around us. As parents, grandparents, educators, employers, caregivers… we teach our children, share words of comfort to those in need, and mentor our colleagues.

Through simple acts, we inspire those around us to follow their dreams.

Who Has Inspired You?

In 2021, DC Public Library Foundation launched the Dream Makers Campaign to honor Dream Makers at DC’s MLK Library. With a simple donation, you can honor your favorite Dream Maker by adding their name to the new Dream Makers wall at DC’s MLK Library.

Or visit the 5th Floor of DC’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library to see the wall in-person.

Through your support, you will not only honor your Dream Maker, you will help open the doors of the DC Public Library even wider for others to learn and grow.

Donation levels start at $50 and support our mission to ensure DC Public Library can offer programs and events in MLK Library and in library branches in every ward of the city.

Because everyone should have a chance to follow their dreams.

Let’s Celebrate
